Disney channel movies and shows are designed mainly for the children and preteen audience, aged 2-14. The shows are aired on Disney channel, an American satellite television and basic cable network owned by the famous Disney-ABC television.
Shows and movies on Disney Channel have helped launch the careers of several famous Hollywood Celebrities and icons. These include stars like Hilary Duff who starred in the Disney original series Lizzie McGuire in the early 2000s and the Disney teen movie Cadet Kelly and Shia LeBeouf who acted in Even Stevens.
The show titled Wizards of Waverly Place, a supernatural fantasy sitcom which aired from 2007 to 2012 spawned the career of teen icon Selena Gomez, who acted as a teenage wizard in the show living with her family with magical abilities and competing with her siblings for the winning custody of the family’s powers. This show led to the production of the Disney original family movie Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie and is also Disney’s most popular show for teenagers.
The American television series Hannah Montana that is originally aired on Disney is one of shows on Disney Channel that hit popularity and helped started the career of famous actress and singer Miley Cyrus, the daughter of country singer icon Billy Ray Cyrus. The television series is focused on the life of Miley Stewart, a girl who conceals her true identity from the media, living a double life as a typical teenager by day and famous pop icon Hannah Montana by evening.
Another show or movie on Disney Channel is the series That’s So Raven, an American supernatural teen sitcom which stars Raven Symone, an American girl who aspires to be a fashion designer and possesses psychic abilities. This helped commence the acting and singing career of Raven Symone. This Disney television series also spawned the spin-off series Cory in the House which stars Kyle Massey, who was the brother of Raven in the sitcom That’s So Raven.
Disney has also created musicals that created a buzz from some time and helped made another bunch of teen Disney stars popular including Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens who debuted in the 2006 American film High School Musical, which generated two other installments. This also led to the production of the Disney musical movie The Cheetah Girls and its sequel, starring Adrienne Bailon, Sabrina Bryan, Kiely Williams, and the last Disney movie appearance of Raven Symone.
Another Disney film dedicated for teens is the musical movie Camp Rock, which aired in 2008. This commenced the careers of the American boy group Jonas brothers and the singer Demi Lovato. It follows the life of Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato) who aspires to be a professional singer and went to a music camp known as “Camp Rock”.
